The Craftsman Bungalow at 3 New Street was constructed in 1919 by local architect/builder R.E. Bost for Dr. Robert and Julie Harrison. Dr. Harrison was an African American dentist and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1913 from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. The house had fallen into disrepair when it was purchased by Ben Ledbetter in 2017 and rehabilitated as a historic tax credit project. The Foundation provided design advice and completed the historic tax credit application for the project. These pictures are part of a series of before and after photographs that will run in The Natchez Democrat every Wednesday during 2024 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Historic Natchez Foundation.
