Elderly Natchez man found dead in his home; apparent homicide victim

NATCHEZ — A 77-year-old Natchez man was found dead in his home late Thursday night, the apparent victim of a homicide.

Adams County Coroner James Lee said Pete Taylor of 409 Watts St. died from blunt force trauma to the head. Taylor was pronounced dead at 10:41 p.m. Thursday.

“This was an awful tragedy today,” Lee said. “I continue to be baffled by these continuous incidents that I call avoidable. My heart continues to go out to these families.”

Taylor’s body is being taken to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for autopsy, he said.

The Natchez Police Department is investigating the case. No other information was immediately available.
