CURTAINS UP: The grand opening of LaJoie Theatre at Chehalem Cultural Center

After nearly two decades of dreaming, planning and building, the moment we've all been waiting for is finally here! The Chehalem Cultural Center is thrilled to throw open the doors to the brand new LaJoie Theatre, nestled in our dazzling new Performing Arts Wing, right in the heart of Newberg.

This isn't just any venue — It's our venue, designed with the entire community in mind. Imagine a space where creativity thrives, where the dance and movement studio hums with energy, and where the newly designed Tri Family Lobby welcomes you with open arms.

But the crown jewel of it all? The Jim Halliday Stage, housed within the 215-seat LaJoie Theatre, ready to dazzle and delight.

Over the years, we've loved seeing your enthusiasm at Tunes on Tuesday, your laughter during summer circus shows, and your applause at Vaudeville in the Black Box. And now, with this new Performing Arts Wing, we’re turning the volume up on our programming, bringing you more amazing experiences, more often, in a venue that truly reflects the spirit of our community.

We can't wait for you to join us for this milestone moment! Get ready to feel the magic come alive as the Jim Halliday Stage hosts its very first performance at the Grand Opening “Sneak Peek Variety Show” 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. It’s going to be an unforgettable evening, with a lineup that teases the incredible season ahead. From the artistic brilliance of 45th Parallel and the dynamic moves of push/FOLD to the theatrical flair of Gather Repertory Theatre, this night is set to be a true celebration. And guess what?
