    There's a long weekend ahead. These Newport County events will keep you busy

    Your weekends may be busy but with many people enjoying a long weekend there's plenty of time to plan to enjoy some of the fun.

    This coming weekend offers the return of some Aquidneck Island favorites that will put you in the mood for autumn. From pumpkins and apple cider to a fair and a parade there's something happening throughout the weekend to enjoy no matter your schedule.

    Take a look at what's happening and start making your plans.

    Rogue Island Comedy Festival

    If you're in need of a laugh the Rogue Island Comedy Festival, the brainchild of Aquidneck Island native Doug Key, is back for a fall session. It will include up-and-coming comics at various locations, including the Jane Pickens Theater, Ragged Island Brewing Company, the Wayfinder Hotel and the Top of Pelham.

    Featured comedians include Mark Normand, Sam Tallent, Andy Haynes, Sharief Johnson, Anjelica Scannura, Oscar Aydin, Ray Harrington and dozens more.

    Broadway Street Fair

    The Broadway Street Fair returns to take over the local thoroughfare through Newport with live music and vendors along the corridor from Equality Park to Washington Square.

    More than 200 artisan, retail and food vendors will be available along with live performances.

    Vendors open for business at 11:30 a.m., and music starts at noon.

    Italian Heritage Parade

    Celebrate Columbus Day with the annual parade through Newport in honor of the city's Italian heritage.

    The parade kicks off from St. Joseph's Church at 10:30 a.m. and ends near the Columbus monument at the intersection of Bellevue Avenue and Memorial Boulevard.

    Prior to the parade, a Mass will be held at St. Joseph's at 9 a.m. Following the parade, an after-parade luncheon is planned at La Forge. Tickets are $30 and available at the door.

    Apple Cider Bar

    Experience the essence of the autumn harvest season at The Chanler at Cliff Walk's Apple Cider Bar, which is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. throughout fall. Grab a cup before taking a stroll along the Cliff Walk or enjoy the setting at the Chanler you indulge in a selection of beverages, including mulled cider crafted from Rose Hill Heirloom apples that have been harvested at their peak. For a more spirited experience, elevate your cider with a curated selection of liqueurs.

    Trinity Church pumpkin patch

    Visit the pumpkin patch in Queen Anne Square through Oct. 31. Open weekdays from noon to 6 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., visitors will also find baked goods, apple cider and so much more.
