The once dubbed “unsinkable” ship that set sail on its maiden&nbsp;— and only&nbsp;— voyage in 1912 sank to the bottom of the northern Atlantic Ocean after hitting an iceberg, but now its second death is coming from time itself. Newly released photos of the famous shipwreck, <a href="https://expedition.discovertitanic.com/" rel="nofollow"> which can be found here </a> , which wasn’t discovered until 1985, show many of its notable features that have been photographed over nearly four decades have either heavily decayed, collapsed or simply fallen off. Most notably the bow of the ship isn’t what it used to be after a mission to the shipwreck site earlier this summer in July. The mission was conducted by RMS Titanic Inc., an American organization that holds the rights to remove artifacts from the Titanic site. “After 13 days focused on the debris field, the Expedition team was excited to get their first glance at the Bow on July 29,” a statement on the RMS Titanic Inc. <a href="https://expedition.discovertitanic.com/" rel="nofollow"> website </a> reads. “However, the moment of excitement and anticipation was immediately shaken by a significant change to the familiar silhouette. “The once miraculously intact railing surrounding the Bow’s forecastle deck was missing a 15-foot-long section on the port side.” For years the bow was photographed to show the status of the great ship more than two miles beneath the water, and was a key feature in the hit 1997 movie “Titanic” directed by James Cameron and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
