The recognition was a result of CBS Solar’s involvement with the Solar Garden at The Garden project at the historic Garden Theater in downtown Frankfort. “The goal of the Community Builder Award is to recognize the leaders behind the many building projects that significantly enhance the communities across northwest Michigan,” Andy Cole, senior vice president at Cunningham Limp, said. Finalists were presented with a check for $500. CBS Solar recently partnered with The Garden Theater to design and install a rooftop solar system that will provide The Garden with electricity. “We’ve had a desire to have solar on the roof of the theater for years and now it is a reality, a dream come true,” Rick&nbsp;Schmitt, The Garden board president said. “It’s a way to generate some clean energy, it reduces our expenses and functions as an annuity for the nonprofit and it’s just the right thing to do for the world.” The solar energy system includes of 120 solar panels with a predicted annual energy production of 58,000 kwh providing The Garden with an annual savings of over $6,500. The $175,000 project was funded by over 350 dedicated gifts. Fundraising efforts are ongoing for Phase 2 of the solar project, which includes on-site battery storage. CBS Solar has installed hundreds of solar electric systems in residences, businesses and nonprofit organizations across the state. </div></body>
