Members of several area locals including one from Ludington, marched proudly to this election year’s theme, Fighting for America’s Future. </p><p> Also participating were political hopefuls, both Democrats and Republicans alike, and a few nonpartisan candidates for local judgeships. </p><h2 class="cci_subhead" title="CCI Subhead"> Shop moved </h2><p> Rich’s Daisy-A-Day flower shop has a new location: 310 River St. To better serve the public, the flower shop was moved to a larger building. </p><h2 class="cci_subhead" title="CCI Subhead"> 60 YEARS AGO </h2><h2 class="cci_subhead" title="CCI Subhead"> Trees taken down </h2><p> A high wind blew through Manistee between 7-8 p.m. yesterday on a path from southwest to northeast taking down some 20 trees and displacing the slide at First Street Beach. Rain came down heavily for a short period and totaled 0.92 of an inch. </p><h2 class="cci_subhead" title="CCI Subhead"> Wash out </h2><p> A good crowd attended the Manistee County Fair yesterday and saw the children’s contests at the grandstand but last night’s harness races were rained out. </p><p> All 16 heats will be presented at tonight’s harness racing program which begins at 7 p.m. at the grandstand. </p><p class="cci_endnote_contact" title="CCI End Note Contact"> Compiled by Mark Fedder at the Manistee County Historical Museum </p></div></body>
