(Kyle Kotecki/News Advocate) </figcaption></figure> MANISTEE — <a href="https://www.manisteemi.gov/88/City-Council" rel="nofollow"> Manistee City Council </a> took action recently to sell a 9.5-acre city-owned parcel located in Renaissance Park in Manistee Township. Council members voted 7-0 in favor of accepting an offer from Global Carrier Incorporated for $25,500. The company plans to use the parcel for a trucking warehouse distribution center. Mayor pro tem Jim Grabowski asked if $25,500 was a good price for the plot. The lot was originally&nbsp;listed for $29,000. City manager Bill Gambill said he felt it was a fair price. "It's zoned for industrial use out of <a href="https://www.manisteetownship.com/" rel="nofollow"> Manistee Township </a> , so it's not a typical lot you would have other places. Also, we do have restrictive covenants, although we're finding perhaps just those lot portions — the smaller ones — are subject to it," Gambill said. "... We want to see more development happen there. Warehousing and trucking is kind of a good use. That's kind of the prices we're getting from our commercial real estate agent." In an Aug. 15 memo to council members found in the agenda packet, Gambill said the city received <a href="https://www.eda.gov/" rel="nofollow"> U.S. Economic Development Administration </a> funds to connect utilities to the industrial zoned area of Renaissance Park "approximately 20 years ago." Gambill said there is not a definitive timeline for when development of the parcel will begin. "They still have to submit a site plan to Manistee Township, so we don't have a timeframe, but I believe we'd hope they get started sooner rather than later," he said. According to a developers resource guide on the city's website, Renaissance Park contains 61 acres of land. "The intended use is industrial, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution or research," reads the guide, in part. "In the interest of development and job creation, the city will work with Manistee Township to afford maximum flexibility to developers in the event that special uses require deviation from the industrial zoning. </div></body>
