(Provided photo/Christa Lutz) </figcaption></figure> For over a decade, the second Saturday in September <a href="https://www.manisteenews.com/news/article/Bear-lake-family-memorial-fundraiser-donates-over-17473145.php" rel="nofollow"> has been reserved for a special fundraiser to give thanks to the Bear Lake Fire Department </a> . But this year is expected to be the last for the Nancy Ann’s Memorial Fundraiser. Over the years, about $25,000 has been donated from the fundraiser to the department. Christa Lutz said the purpose of the fundraiser is to thank the dual&nbsp;firefighter emergency medical personnel for their work in caring for the late Nancy Ann Ackerman who frequently needed help from the department. “She was a diabetic so (every emergency, the fire department) would always be coming out,” Lutz said. Lutz is also&nbsp;Ackerman’s niece and fundraiser co-organizer. “We discussed when we originally started the process of donating to a diabetes association, but we thought we’d keep it local, thank the people that helped her,” she said. The fundraiser was created in 2013 and has changed since its inception, Lutz said. “We started originally with a run-walk, silent auction (approach). And then it transformed that we just ended up dropping the walk-run and then it was (completely) a silent auction,” she said. Many of the items are supplied by Ackerman’s friends and family. In previous News Advocate coverage, Lutz had noted that between 50-80% of the auction items came from&nbsp;Ackerman's immediate family. The alternative option for the auction is to bid on items through the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/PleasantonValleyGreenhouses/" rel="nofollow"> Pleasanton Valley Greenhouses Facebook page </a> where photos of the items will be displayed. Lutz said the plan is to have photos of all of the silent auction items on the Facebook page next week. “You can come in, in person but a majority just bid online,” Lutz said. “A lot of people can’t be here that day and those online people make a huge difference (too).” On Tuesday, the silent auction begins.
