Boomerangs to have soft reopening Wednesday after brief closure

URBANA — A local bar that closed this past weekend to "restructure" will have a soft reopening Wednesday night.

Stuart Candlin, co-owner of Boomerangs Bar and Grill at 1309 E. Washington St., said the business is still "reorganizing" but is able to reopen sooner than originally expected — albeit with some caveats.

"We will have a skeleton crew and limited menu, but we will be open!" he told The News-Gazette. "The skeleton crew and limited menu will probably last through this weekend, with a return to a more normal crew and menu starting the beginning of next week."

There will be trivia from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and bingo from 9 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, he said, and live music on Friday nights will return "in the near future."

Boomerangs previously shared on social media that it would close at the end of business early Monday morning to "restructure, reorganize, and update our business." At the time, the bar had no estimate on a reopening date.

The business had previously shared on Aug. 8 that it would open late due to "staffing issues."
