CHAMPAIGN — After closing its Champaign location earlier this month amid construction traffic and other issues, Salt and Light has announced that the store will reopen — but only as a drop-off location for the time being.

The Champaign store, located at 1512 W. Anthony Drive, will reopen Friday. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

"We are still in the process of evaluating reopening the Champaign store and appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to serve our community," the nonprofit shared on social media.

Executive Director Nathan Montgomery wrote in a previous newsletter that road closures on Anthony Drive "have added to the challenge of generating enough sales to keep the Champaign location open."

"While it is closed, we will assess if or when it would make sense to reopen," he said. "The location and facility are not ideal for what we do. Although we are accessible to our neighbors in Dobbins Downs, many of the other people we serve in Champaign find it much less convenient. The store is also in a warehouse with no air-conditioning, limited heating, and insufficient parking."

Salt and Light's Urbana shop at 1819 S. Philo Road remains open to customers.
