2024-25 High School Confidential: Famous formers

Since High School Confidential’s start in 2016, more than 300 students have served as News-Gazette correspondents. We’ll catch up with our famous formers in each week’s special section.

Today: Mary (Huffman) Martinez

Mary, our talented correspondent from ALAH in 2016-17, is now teaching at her alma mater.

“I can’t believe this will be Year 9,” she said. “What an awesome tradition. I’m so happy I could be a part of it!”

An Illinois State grad, Mary is back in Arthur as the school district’s English as a Second Language teacher.

“This is the first year we’ve had this position and I am loving the challenge and the students and families I get to work with,” she said.

Mary lives in Arthur with her husband, 2-year-old daughter and two dogs.
