Today’s 52nd annual Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) recognition lunch in Champaign won’t have perfect attendance — which is a good thing. “Some people can’t make it because they’re out volunteering,” RSVP’s Robbie Edwards. “That’s dedication.”

We’ll publish photos from the joyous event meant to celebrate some 500 community difference-makers from the 55-and-over crowd, including several who have volunteered more than 400 hours in the last year.

RSVP has rebounded from COVID-19 challenges but always is seeking more volunteers. Reach out at 217-359-6500 or via email at rsvpcomp@gmail.com.

Anniversary pins will also be awarded to longtime contributors at today’s banquet.

“This is our way of paying back for all the hours these volunteers have put in,” Edwards said.
