IMPACT: Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.
Locations impacted include: Staunton, Waynesboro, Stuarts Draft, Crozet, Sherando, Wintergreen, Montebello, Afton, Fishersville, Lyndhurst, Nellysford, Ivy, Greenville, Middlebrook, Hermitage, Yancey Mills, Tyro, Jonesboro, Afton Mountain, and Massies Mill.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 10:15 p.m. Wednesday for Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro.
The watch is in effect for 31 counties in Virginia. The main hazard is damaging wind gusts.

A heat advisory is in effect for the entire outlook area aside from Hampshire, Hardy, Augusta and Nelson counties until 8 p.m. this evening.
