The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of eastern West Virginia, northern and central Virginia, and central and western Maryland.

Augusta County is listed along with the following areas:

    Washington-Frederick MD-Carroll-Northern Baltimore- Northwest Montgomery-Northwest Howard-Northwest Harford- Augusta -Rockingham-Shenandoah-Frederick VA-Page-Warren-Clarke-Nelson-Albemarle-Greene-Madison-Rappahannock-Orange-Culpeper- Northern Fauquier-Southern Fauquier-Western Loudoun-Eastern Loudoun-Northern Virginia Blue Ridge- Central Virginia Blue Ridge-Northwest Prince William-Hampshire-Morgan-Berkeley-Jefferson-Hardy

Scattered thunderstorms are possible between 1 p.m. to 9 p.m Tuesday. A few of these storms may be capable of producing localized damaging wind gusts, especially north of Interstate 64.

The combination of heat and humidity will likely result in heat index values of around 100 to 105 Wednesday afternoon. This increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, said NWS.

There is potential for clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts Wednesday afternoon and evening.
