Blue Ridge Parkway update on road closures in Virginia Oct. 25

On Sept. 26, the full 500-mile length of the Blue Ridge Parkway was closed to all uses due to extensive damage from Hurricane Helene. In the weeks that followed the storm, National Park Service crews and emergency services sprang into action to repair and begin a phased reopening for sections of the parkway in Virginia.

On Friday, the National Park Service provided a detailed chart on road status and closures for the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.

Weather conditions, road construction and maintenance projects, as well as emergency events may cause temporary road closures along the parkway, NPS said in the update.

"The chart lists sections of the parkway oriented from north to south, and organized by gate locations with route information at the various access and exit points," the description reads. "Information about road closures and construction activity is included in the important information and road updates column."

I was on the the Blue Ridge Parkway this week. The upper part of Virginia went all the way down to Roanoke, the leaves were beautiful and thanks to all the hard work of the Rangers. The road was in good shape.
