Fremont YMCA receives $20,000 grant to widen access to programming, memberships

Programs aimed at Diabetes Prevention, Parkinson's

The YMCA of Sandusky County has received a $20,000 Ohio Department of Aging/Healthy Aging Grant from Ottawa County Senior Resources.

This grant, in conjunction with $5,000 in equipment purchased by the Otterbein Marblehead SeniorLife Community, will allow the YMCA to provide free access to the YMCA/CDC Diabetes Prevention Program and Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson’s disease patients as well as grant free access to the Y for select Ottawa County seniors.

Scouts' Lifetime Achievement award-winners and 2023 Class of Eagle Scouts honored

The Eagle Bay District (Ottawa and Sandusky counties) of the Erie Shores Council, Boy Scouts of America, held its 2024 leadership recognition dinner April 25 at the Liberty Aviation Museum.

The Eagle Bay District’s Lifetime Achievement award went to Lynne Pocock, Pack 406; Roger Minier, Troop 316; and Jeff Pocock, Troop 406.
