    Veterans set plans for Memorial Day wreath-laying, parade in Fremont

    Fremont veterans will hold the annual Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremonies May 27 at 9 a.m. at the Sandusky County Courthouse.

    The Memorial Day parade will follow, starting at 10 a.m. at the corner of State and Front streets and ending at the entrance of Rodger Young Park.

    Veterans' groups plan to honor local Persian Gulf and Post 9/11 veterans by having them walk in the parade.

    Veterans should meet at the corner of State and Front streets by 9:30 a.m. to walk in the parade. Uniforms are encouraged.

    Talk About Woodville: Multiple events set for Memorial Day Weekend

    All other organizations should start lining up around 9 a.m. at the corner of Arch and Front streets heading back toward Burns Iron and Metal.

    Fremont VFW Post 2947 will hold its annual chicken barbecue Memorial Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out. The cost is $14 per meal and the event is open to the public. This includes a half-chicken and sides. Dine-in and carry out are available. Pre-sale tickets are available at the VFW, 204 Birchard Ave.
