    Week 1 scores: Oak Harbor, Port Clinton explode in 1st; Woodmore posts a shutout

    Tyler Thompson returned the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown and Carson Ridener added two scores on the ground as Oak Harbor scored 37 points in the first quarter in a 44-6 victory Friday over Toledo Bowsher to start the season.

    Ridener scored from 42 and 7 yards, and Blake Nickel from 7 yards. Wyatt Augsburger caught a 56-yard touchdown pass from Mike LaLonde and the Rockets added a safety in the first quarter.

    Ridener added a 47-yard scoring reception in the second quarter. LaLonde completed 12 of 17 passes for 186 yards.

    Bowsher had 28 yards on 24 carries. Cooper Schultz intercepted a pass for Oak Harbor.

    Port Clinton 55, Toledo Waite 6

    Port Clinton scored off a blocked punt, fumble return and interception.

    Steele Joseph collected a punt he blocked and scored from 22 yards, Malakii Pinkelton returned a fumble 43 yards and Josh Cornell took an interception back 60 yards for Port Clinton. Pinkelton scored in more conventional fashion on a 23-yard pass from Wyatt Yarbrough and a 3-yard run.

    Yarbrough added a 13-yard touchdown run as Port Clinton led 35-0 after one quarter.

    Briar Rohrer caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Yarbrough as Port Clinton led 49-6 at the half. Rohrer added a 12-yard scoring reception from Gavin Cornell.

    Gibsonburg 26, Ottawa Hills 7

    Reece Walby rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on 15 tries, Grant Smith added 92 yards on the ground and Antonio Salazar rushed for a 23-yard score as Gibsonburg had 311 yards on 44 carries overall.

    Salazar caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Cam Mooney.

    Woodmore 37, North Central 0

    Landon Rich rushed for 202 yards and four touchdowns for Woodmore. He scored from 31, 10, 7 and 4 yards out.

    Wesley Kayser caught a 60-yard scoring pass from Calvin Lipstraw.

    North Central had minus-10 yards of total offense and two first downs. Woodmore registered two safeties.

    The Wildcats opened a season with a win for the first time since 2013.

    Tiffin Columbian 27, Fremont Ross 11

    Karson Kayden rushed in from 4 yards and Bryce Estep kicked a field goal for Ross.

    Archbold 27, Genoa 14

    Luke Clement rushed for a score and Jaxon Magnone caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Myles Mollenhauer for Genoa.

    The Comets led 14-12 with 5:16 left to play.

    Monroeville 45, Lakota 13

    Vermilion 26, Margaretta 0
