Republican, Democratic political campaign offices open in Fremont

Both major political parties have now opened offices in Fremont .

"The rule of thumb is that the races don't really get going until right after Labor Day," Sandusky County GOP Chairman Justin Smith said.

The Democrats opened their office last week. It's at 905 E. State St., in the building that was the Otto Urban Florist location. Hours are generally Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Republicans opened their campaign office Tuesday. It's located at 101 S. Front St. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 4-8 p.m., Friday 4-6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Something great that I ate: BBQ Mac & Fries at Jimmy G's

Regular readers will know that I'm a big fan of the blues, and it was at blues shows that I honed my love for barbeque.

Jimmy G's is a place to make a road trip just for the food. It's a family-run small place, and if you go there for lunch during the week you are likely to find it filled with a bunch of working people. When I went there last week, it was a construction crew that had dragged all the tables together in the center of the room and they were chowing down on the slow-cooked meats.

I had the lunch special BBQ Mac & Fries. It's simply a big bowl with their pulled pork barbeque, topped with their grilled mac and cheese, all on top of coleslaw, which was on top of their signature fresh-cut and brined fries. The whole mess was covered in their Savannah Sweet BBQ sauce. I was in heaven.

Jimmy G's is located at 1321 W. State St. in Fremont.
