🏎Drivers of all ages in Go-Cart Grand Prix burn rubber through streets of Clyde

    Good morning, Sandusky County.

Today's 50% chance of showers is a continuation of the rain we were forecast to see all weekend. It should certainly help with the ongoing drought conditions. One day of rain will not be enough to get us out of the woods on the drought, but it can't hurt. Regardless, the high should be 75 degrees, with a low tonight of 62 degrees.

The Go-Cart Grand Prix burned rubber through the streets of Clyde.

The all-day event Sunday was the culmination of the Clyde Fair .

The 1.2-mile race is the longest in the national circuit. It awards a variety of trophies, for ages that spanned elementary school to 80.

Go-kart racing is often a family effort. Conner Dean, a Maumee resident, helped remove Dave Dean's go-kart off the track. Dave Dean, 25, Conner's dad, finished racing just after his son.

"I crashed out, right in the beginning,” Conner said. “I’m doing just fine.”

Something great that I ate: Pumpkin pie empanadas

Sure, the Spanish makes them sound exotic, but pumpkin spice is everywhere. I guess that makes the treat not that unusual, but don't let the prevalence of pumpkin spice make you pass up these empanadas from Fremont's El Agula Bakery. They are made fresh, daily.

Empanadas de Calavasa are the traditional tasty Mexican folded bread pastry with filling, but this is not your typical empanada. The direct translation is empanada with pumpkin. It's really pumpkin pie filling.

The seasonal specialty is shown in my photo with a fresh strawberry filled cuerno. My 17-year-old son didn't find the pair of pastries to clash at all, and neither did I. I recommend pairing them with coffee or a tall glass of milk.

El Aguila Bakery is 1810 W. State St. in Fremont.
