Stuff the Chicken to honor Connor Miller
Our reporter, Rebecca Brooks, has a special display for you to attend at the Sandusky County Fair.
As the 2024 Sandusky County Fair in Fremont sets up for Aug. 19 to 25, the Target Masters 4-H Club is planning a special fundraiser in honor of a 13-year-old club member who was killed earlier this summer.
Connor Miller, age 13, his father Joe Miller, both of Vickery and grandfather Richard Miller, Sandusky, all died July 11 in Seneca County in a tragic fatal accident. Their pickup in was hit by a cargo van that went through a stop sign at Ohio 18 and CR 24. The Miller vehicle was then hit by an oncoming tractor-trailer, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report.
"Connor was on his way home with his chickens," club adviser Mary Ann Miller said about the collision. Connor, a seven-year 4-H member, was preparing for the 2024 junior fair competition. Mary Ann said the 4-Her was in his third year showing chickens and was excited that he could sell his chickens at the Sandusky County Fair this summer.
"We are going to celebrate Connor," the adviser said about the club's plans for the 2024 fair week. "There are going to be a lot of tears and a lot of laughter."
