    Triangle buffet gets ‘B’ grade for food marked with wrong dates: Restaurant scores (Sept. 10)

    The News & Observer publishes a weekly roundup of restaurant sanitation scores to keep you up-to-date on the health grades at Triangle dining spots.

    Sanitation scores and their corresponding letter grades are used in North Carolina to assess restaurants’ adherence to rules and standards intended to mitigate and prevent the spread of food-borne illnesses.

    You’ve likely seen sanitation grade cards at restaurants you’ve visited, and The N&O previously explained what those scores mean and how they’re calculated .

    Here are sanitation scores in Triangle counties for the week of Sept. 3-9.

    Wake County sanitation scores

    The Wake County sanitation grades database shows that 59 restaurant inspections were completed Sept. 3-9.

    • Most restaurants received an A grade, or a score of at least 90%.

    • One received a B grade, or a score of at least 80% but lower than 90%.

    Hibachi China Buffet (2909 E Millbrook Rd. in Raleigh) received a score of 87.5% during an inspection on Sept. 4.

    • The restaurant was in violation of 20 standards. Of these, eight were considered critical violations.

    • Critical violations included raw fish stored above fries in the fridge, cutting boards found with dried food residue and some foods in the cooler marked with incorrect dates.

    • Some violations were corrected during the inspection.

    • The restaurant previously scored 90.5% in June 2024 and 93% in October 2023.

    Durham County sanitation scores

    The Durham County inspection management system shows 16 restaurant inspections were completed Sept. 3-9.

    • All restaurants received an A grade.

    Orange County sanitation scores

    The Orange County inspection management system shows that 15 restaurant inspections were completed Sept. 3-9.

    • All restaurants received an A grade.

    Johnston County sanitation scores

    The Johnston County sanitation inspections database shows that 20 restaurant inspections were completed Sept. 3-9.

    • All restaurants received an A grade.

    Chatham County sanitation scores

    The Chatham County inspections management system shows that nine restaurant inspections were completed Sept. 3-9.

    I know they grade you also from dumpsters outside, cracks in tiles in deli, & meat depts. they also check your test strips dates. there are a bunch of things to bring grade down. I had inspection one day at my store & a dumbass threw a whole case of busted spaghetti sauce in the mop pit. it bring our score way down .
