A man’s body was found this week inside the freezer of a local Food Lion , Raleigh police told The News & Observer in an email.

Employees of the grocery store at 4510 Capital Blvd. in Raleigh found their coworker Tuesday morning and called the police, CBS 17 first reported . A police officer told the publication that an investigation determined that the man had a medical emergency Monday night before dying inside the freezer.

“Food Lion is deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of our associate. We express our deepest condolences to the associate’s family and friends,” a Food Lion spokesperson told The N&O in an email. “Food Lion is cooperating with local authorities in their investigation of this unfortunate incident.”

The grocer is “providing resources to support our associates during this difficult time,” the spokesperson said.

Police do not suspect foul play, CBS 17 reported.
