Two Powerball players missed the jackpot — but are still set to get richer in North Carolina.

The players bought tickets that matched all but one number picked in the Oct. 19 drawing. Since one of the players spent an extra dollar on the Power Play option, their $50,000 prize tripled to $150,000, the N.C. Education Lottery wrote on its website and X, formerly known as Twitter.

The winning numbers : white balls 7-16-19-45-64, with red Powerball 25.

The lucky players each matched four of the white balls and the red ball to win big. Here’s where they bought their tickets:

    • $50,000 ticket sold for $2 at Gas Express in Monroe
    • $150,000 ticket sold for $3 at Sheetz in Goldsboro

Though the winners have a lot to celebrate, they were each one number away from scoring the larger jackpot prize. No one in the country hit the jackpot , which stood at an estimated $437 million the night of the drawing, according to the Powerball website.

In North Carolina, lucky ticket holders have about six months to cash in on their Powerball prizes. The lottery shared the news about the big wins over the weekend, before the $50,000 and $150,000 winners could have claimed their prizes in person.

    What to know about Powerball

To score the jackpot in the Powerball , a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online .

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
