Elementary school student hit by SUV on Friday morning in Lehigh Acres, troopers say

An elementary school student was seriously injured and taken to the hospital after authorities confirmed an SUV struck them Friday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol data, the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. along Columbus Boulevard, near Ermine Street, in Lehigh Acres.

Authorities said the child was taken to a local hospital. The minor's age remained unknown Friday morning.
