Powerball player narrowly misses $176 million jackpot — but still wins big in Washington

A Powerball player just missed the $176 million jackpot but still won a big prize in Washington.

The lottery player won $50,000 during the Sept. 18 drawing, according to Washington’s Lottery.

They matched four white balls and the red Powerball, only missing one number. The winning numbers were 1, 11, 22, 47, 68 and 7.

The player bought the ticket from a Circle K in Richland, which is in Benton County, a lottery spokesperson told McClatchy News by email Sept. 19.

Six other players won $50,000.

No one hit the jackpot, so it has grown to an estimated $195 million for the Saturday, Sept. 21, drawing. The cash value is $99.1 million.

To score the jackpot in the Powerball , a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online .

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
