A man was hiking near a waterfall with his daughter when he fell 50 feet in Oregon, rescuers said.

Rescuers responded to Steelhead Falls , the Crooked River Ranch Fire and Rescue said in a Sept. 23 Facebook post.

A dad had been hiking on a “very familiar trail” with his daughter when he fell, fire officials said.

He tumbled down an embankment and landed on the edge of a river where it was rocky, officials said.

Rescuers put him on a stretcher and carried him a half-mile to a waiting ambulance.

He was taken to the fire station and then flown to a hospital, officials said. He had “life threatening injuries,” according to the release. An update on the man’s condition was not available.

“Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue would like to remind you to never hike alone, be prepared for the terrain you may encounter and always ensure someone knows where you are and when to expect you,” rescuers said in the post.

Steelhead Falls is about a 30-mile drive north from Bend.

It’s a half-mile hike to the waterfall from the trailhead, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
