A 35-year-old man who was fatally shot over a motorcycle dispute in Graham has been officially identified, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Jonathan Sullivan of Graham died from a gunshot wound to the chest on Monday near the 20700 block of 92nd Avenue East. His manner of death was listed as a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said in a news release .

Keith Canedy, 32, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, court records show.

He was arrested in Oregon on Tuesday after prosecutors sought a warrant for his arrest. Canedy is currently being held in the Clackamas County Jail, awaiting extradition to Pierce County, The News Tribune previously reported.

Sullivan and a 48-year-old man were in their area of 92nd Avenue East because they believed a person who lived there stole their 2024 Yamaha motorcycle. Canedy was in his 2024 Chevrolet Silverado “Bison” edition truck during the confrontation and allegedly shot the men before he drove off, according to charging documents.

The 48-year-old man was seriously injured, but deputies said he would survive. Sullivan was declared dead at the scene, prosecutors wrote.

Canedy has prior felony convictions, including residential burglary and second-degree burglary, prosecutors wrote. He is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
