    Vote now for The News Tribune’s Athletes of the Week for contests played between Sept. 30 and Oct. 5. Voting will remain open until noon Wednesday.

    The polls are located below. You can read about all of the candidates and their accomplishments below.

    FOOTBALL

    Bryson Allen, Franklin Pierce — Cardinals RB took eight carries for 113 yards and a score (63 long) in 50-0 win over Eatonville.

    Malcolm Akuffo, Emerald Ridge — Freshman running back rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns in win over Rogers.

    Josiah Asuega, South Kitsap — Defensive lineman racked up seven tackles, including three tackles for loss and a sack in loss to Curtis.

    Tristan Baker, Lakes — All-purpose WR/DB scored three touchdowns in runaway win over River Ridge. Baker exploded for 90- and 60-yard kickoff returns and punched in a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Took four carries for 13 yards and a touchdown, adding two receptions for 20 yards. On defense, tackled two and forced a fumble.

    Kase Betz, Graham-Kapowsin — Eagles WR was AJ Tuivaiave’s favorite target Friday night, securing six receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns in statement 57-36 win over Yelm.

    Brady Bonnell, Tahoma — Bears QB guided Tahoma to a 24-21 win over Auburn Riverside, completing 15 of 23 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown, adding a seven-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

    Tate Bowen, White River — Hornets WR secured three receptions for 100 yards and two touchdowns in big win over Kentlake.

    Jabez Boyd, Life Christian — Eagles QB put on another show, completing 11-of-13 passes for 288 yards and five touchdowns in 65-0 win over Annie Wright. Added one carry for seven rushing yards.

    Jaxon Budd, Tumwater — T-Birds QB completed 6-of-7 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns in 56-10 win over Union.

    Derek Colman-Brusa, Kennedy Catholic — Lancers DL recorded four tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for loss in big win over Auburn.

    DJ Darling, Gig Harbor — Caught eight passes for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns in win over Silas.

    Peyton Davis, Tumwater — Lead RB took eight carries for 51 yards and two touchdowns in win over Union.

    Kyson Douglas, Puyallup — Vikings RB erupted for 201 scrimmage yards (71 rushing, 130 receiving) and two touchdowns in 17-14 loss to Sumner.

    Ryland Geldermann, Gig Harbor — Rushed 13 times for 130 yards and two touchdowns in win over Silas.

    Jonathan Epperson, Auburn Riverside — Ravens RB/LB handled eight carries for 56 yards and two touchdowns in 24-21 loss to Tahoma. Added four receptions for 21 yards.

    Devon Forehand, Kennedy Catholic — QB completed 6-of-10 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns and added 88 yards and two more scores on four carries in win over Auburn,

    Maddox Heyliger, Decatur — Gators WR secured the last-gasp touchdown catch and game-winning two-point conversion that lifted Decatur over 4A-Skyview in a thriller, 15-14.

    Indiana Jones, Kennedy Catholic — Lancers RB carved Auburn for 202 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries, adding two receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown through the air (four total) in 62-24 win.

    Sione Kaho, Lincoln — Abes QB guided Lincoln to revenge win over rival Mount Tahoma in thrilling, double-overtime fashion Friday night, 38-32, throwing four touchdown passes without an interception.

    Antoine Lee, Kentwood — Rushed nine times for 165 yards and two touchdowns in loss to Stadium.

    Mason Locke, White River — All-purpose junior took six carries for 103 yards and a touchdown in 54-7 win over Kentlake.

    Austin Mazzone, Steilacoom — Sophomore wide receiver caught seven passes for 122 yards and a touchdown in loss to Orting.

    Joshua Moultrie, Emerald Ridge — Senior running back rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns in win over Rogers.

    Parker Myers, Yelm — Tornados QB completed 13-of-22 passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns in 57-36 loss to Graham-Kapowsin.

    Atinae Nuu, Life Christian — Eagles RB rumbled for 74 yards and two touchdowns on his two carries in a 65-0 rout of Annie Wright.

    Jeremiah Orcutt, Franklin Pierce — All-around Cardinals QB/FS completed 2-of-4 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown, took eight carries for 39 yards and a score, and intercepted two passes on defense in 50-0 win over Eatonville.

    Blake Ostrander, Capital — Cougars RB took 12 carries for 118 yards and two touchdowns in shutout win over Timberline.

    Jameson Patin, Yelm — Tornados WR took all three receptions for 98 yards and three touchdowns in 57-36 loss vs. Graham-Kapowsin.

    Blake Pearson, Graham-Kapowsin — Sophomore RB is part of a young, high-flying Eagles offense, who took 26 carries for 141 yards to establish a physical run game at Yelm.

    Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, Bethel — Senior LB/WR had an interception, which he returned for a 70-yard touchdown, recovered a fumble and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown, had 10 tackles and had a 25-yard receiving touchdown on offense in win over Spanaway Lake.

    Lucas Redman, Capital — Senior QB completed 15-of-23 passes for 254 yards and three touchdowns in win over Timberline.

    Mazaia Roberson, Graham-Kapowsin — Eagles WR took three catches for 108 yards and three touchdowns in big win at Yelm.

    Ethan Rodriguez, Rochester — Junior running back rushed 15 times for 192 yards and three touchdowns in 43-0 win over Elma.

    Julian Roso, Life Christian — Two-way Eagles SS/WR intercepted two Annie Wright passes and secured two receptions for 67 yards in Saturday’s 65-0 win.

    Champ Seumalo, Life Christian — Eagles WR took three receptions for 124 yards and three touchdowns in big win over Annie Wright.

    Darius Sum, Stadium — Rushed 34 times for 265 yards and two touchdowns in win over Kentwood.

    Junior Teregeyo, Franklin Pierce — Cardinals RB handled 15 carries for 180 yards and a touchdown in 50-point win over Eatonville.

    Ethan Trader, Gig Harbor — Had four tackles, including three for loss and two sacks, and recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown in win over Silas.

    AJ Tuivaiave, Graham-Kapowsin — 14-year-old freshman QB threw a school-record 7 TD passes and completed 21-of-27 passes for 418 yards in a 57-36 statement win over Yelm in 4A SPSL action. Added one carry for seven yards.

    Beckett Wall, Tumwater — T-Birds LB was everywhere on the stat sheet: 11 tackles, four TFL, three sacks, two batted balls, a fumble recovery, and a blocked extra point in big win over Union.

    Tristan Waterman, White River — Hornets QB completed 13-of-20 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns in 54-7 rout over Kentlake, adding a four-yard touchdown rush (five total).

    Chase Waters, Capital — Cougars LB returned an interception for a touchdown and tackled eight (1 TFL) in shutout win over Timberline.

    FALL SPORTS

    Simone Bennett, Tahoma soccer — Junior goalkeeper posted clean sheet shutouts last week against Kentridge and Auburn.

    Cooper Boyle, Tahoma cross country — Bears senior ran Saturday’s HOKA 28th John Payne XC Invitational in 14:56.9, the fastest 5,000-meter run among South Sound boys this season.

    Braelyn Carey, Lakes soccer — Junior striker netted all four Lancer goals in 4-2 win over North Thurston and scored again in 2-1 win over River Ridge. Carey leads WA with 24 goals this season.

    Addy Conner, North Thurston volleyball — In wins over Gig Harbor and Central Kitsap, had 40 kills (5/set).

    Leia Dela Cruz, Timberline volleyball — Sophomore setter had 34 assists, 10 digs and two aces in last week’s games.

    Layne Dent, Cascade Christian volleyball — In win over Bellevue Christian, had 21 kills (7/set) in sweep of Vikings.

    Elektra Higgins, Peninsula cross country — Seahawks senior ran Saturday’s HOKA 28th John Payne XC Invitational (5,000-meter) in 17:00.7, the fastest mark among South Sound girls this season and third-quickest statewide.

    Morgan Stevens, Silas volleyball — In matches against Timberline and River Ridge, had 13 kills, five blocks, four aces, six digs and an assist.
