Fall-like weather returns to the region this week with an opportunity to view a partial lunar eclipse.

The National Weather Service forecast shows mostly clear conditions this week with day side highs in the low to mid 70s, cooling overnight lows to the mid 40s and low 50s.

Tuesday is the exception, with rain showers and a high at 64.

    Lunar Eclipse

A partial lunar eclipse is expected Tuesday evening, Sept. 17th.

Lunar eclipses occur at the full moon phase," according to NASA.

"When Earth is positioned precisely between the Moon and Sun, Earth’s shadow falls upon the surface of the Moon, dimming it and sometimes turning the lunar surface a striking red over the course of a few hours," the NASA website states. "Each lunar eclipse is visible from half of Earth."
