    Lee County to crack down on unsecured waste loads entering transfer station

    TUPELO — In an effort to curb litter, Lee County officials will begin turning away people attempting to drop garbage off at the county's transfer station if those loads aren't secured.

    After receiving multiple calls from residents living close to the county’s transfer station, which is where most of the city's trash ends up before being shipped to a location in Pontotoc County, county officials — pressed by District 5 Supervisor Barry Parker — have adopted a new rule requiring all residents and contractors to secure their loads or be turned away.
