NORMAN — Porter Moser is dipping into the NBA for his newest staff addition.

OU basketball's head coach is adding former Milwaukee Bucks assistant Josh Oppenheimer to his staff, ESPN reported Friday. Oppenheimer worked closely with Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and played a crucial role during his rookie season as a player development coach under Larry Drew.

Oppenheimer will reportedly take on a "significant role in player development and offensive strategy" with the Sooners.

Milwaukee dismissed Oppenheimer last season. Oppenheimer was rehired by the Bucks and former head coach Mike Budenholzer in 2020 after working with the team from 2013-16.

Oppenheimer played college basketball at Rhode Island and Northern Arizona, where he earned All-Big Sky Conference honors for the 1989-90 season. He played 10 professional seasons, including six in Israel.

OU will embark on its inaugural season in the Southeastern Conference during the 2024-25 season, Moser's fourth at the helm.
