    OSBI asked to help investigate fatal Mustang police shooting

    A Mustang police officer shot and killed a man Thursday evening during a wellness check.

    The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said the man disobeyed verbal commands and began advancing on the officer in the area of Mustang Road and SW 89. The shooting occurred just before 7:30 p.m.

    Officers on the scene attempted life-saving measures but the man died, according to an OSBI news release . There were no other injuries.

    Mustang Police Department requested the assistance of OSBI to help investigate. Authorities have not yet released any details about the shooting or the man's identity. News9 reported that the man's family said he had a mental health episode and was not armed.
