    A man was killed Friday night in an officer-involved shooting in Edmond.

    One person was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Edmond.

    Emily Ward, Edmond Police public information officer, said police received a request to check for a suspicious person in the 1900 block of Three Stars Road just before 11 p.m. Friday. The address is near E Second Street and Bryant Avenue.

    Saturday, Edmond Police Sgt. James Hamm shared additional informaton about the incident.

    "Officers responded to that address on Three Stars Road, in reference to the resident there had observed somebody in the backyard of their home," Hamm said.

    Hamm said officers arrived at the address and began to check around the area. He said officers found the suspect hiding on a second-floor balcony in the back of the residence.

    Hamm said the man would not talk to police when they attempted to communicate with him.

    "In a short time, the suspect stood up and pointed a firearm at the officers," he said. "Officers and the suspect both exchanged gunfire, at which time the suspect was shot and killed.""

    Hamm said more information, including the suspect's identification, would likely be released in the coming days.

    The Edmond incident follows an officer-involved shooting on Thursday in Mustang.

    A Mustang police officer shot and killed a man about 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening during a wellness check. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said the man, identified as Juan Barbosa, 41, refused to obey verbal commands and began advancing on the officer near Mustang Road and SW 89.

    Officers on the scene attempted life-saving measures but the man died, according to an OSBI news release .

    Mustang Police Department requested the assistance of OSBI to help investigate. Authorities have not yet released any details about the shooting. News9 reported that the man's family said he was unarmed and had a mental health episode.
