NORMAN — OU football will honor lifelong superfan Toby Keith at home football games this season.

The Sooners announced Monday plans for a Keith sing along after the third quarter.

"It's going to involve not only music, but it's going to involve a video portion to work in with the music," executive associate athletics director Leah Beasley told The Oklahoman . "I think that's something that you don't see. Yes, a lot of schools have it around our (Power Four) community. And so we had an idea that is unique to Oklahoma and that our fans will love. "It's not going to be something that we're going to have to test, we know our fans will get into."

Other in-game updates announced include improved connectivity with AT&T's 5G service, amplified band performances and enhanced graphics with live 3D renderings of game stats. A new real-time decibel meter will also measure crowd impact.

It's not clear which Keith songs will be played during games, but there are plenty to choose from.

OU fans will get their first look at the sing along when the Sooners kick their season off against Temple at 6 p.m. Friday on ESPN.

"It is going to have a video element as well that is synced with the music so we're excited about rolling that out to the fans at the first game. The (third/fourth quarter break) will be dedicated to that sequence."
