When the University of Oklahoma kicks off its home opener at 6 p.m. Friday against the Temple University Owls, fans will have some new food and beverage options available.

When you visit Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium this season, you'll notice some new dining options from the folks at Levy Restaurants through their Live On Hospitality brand that operates at the stadium.

In addition to that, there will also be new options for spirits from the bars in the clubs and suites.

Wanderfolk Spirits launches OU Bourbon and Vodka

Looking to please both the bourbon drinkers and clear spirit drinkers among OU fans, Guthrie's Wanderfolk Spirits has partnered with the university and created Two Ponies Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Only One Vodka.

"The concept behind this is basically trying to find spirits that spotlight the tradition of the school and the excellence that they're used to," said Derek Duty, general manager of WanderFolk. "The idea is through these spirits, you can kind of see tradition and excellence all the way through now to hip and happening"

Two Ponies is a four year, four grain weeded bourbon — a 90-proof, proprietary blend from WanderFolk for the release — that Duty calls "clean and easy drinking."

Only One is a 10 times distilled, three times charcoal filtered, ultra premium vodka, that then goes through WanderFolk's additional finishing filtration.

"It's 100% corn-based. It's ultra clean," Duty said. "It's vodka, right? So, as fairly flavorless as possible. Because of how clean we do this, your ending notes when you drink it are — sometimes you still get kind of an alcohol burn or an alcohol kind of hit at the end — this has more of, kind of a marshmallow fluff, like a little slight sweetness."

Both spirits will also be available in liquor stores or online from WanderFolk.

"We'll also be able to sell direct-to-consumer online for folks out of state. So if you have alumni who aren't in our area that we distribute currently, you can buy it pretty much anywhere, it delivers to 41 states," Duty said.

What new foods will you find at OU home games?

Food will include new options as well, with Levy Restaurants set to bring in Psycho Taco, among other subcontractors.

Keith Shepherd, director of operations, said the combination of the work done by Levy chefs and subcontractors, "helps build a great food story for OU."

Shepherd and his team showed off the offerings, like ribs for premium seat holders and other concessions available throughout the stadium, as well as several sandwich and sausage options from Dickey's Barbecue Pit.

"We have an assortment of beverages and food that will be offered up in suites and premium. We have hot dogs that are loaded and wings ... that will be available in concessions to the general public on game day. So we just want to take this time to showcase some food," Shepherd said.

A new executive chef, Jay Torres, also joined the Levy team and is looking to continue expanding the options available to fans on game day.

"We're here to elevate the food a little bit, trying to bring a little bit of Hispanic culture to the Oklahoma comfort food," Torres said.
