    Oklahoma ranked in top 5 riskiest states to drive in, according to Forbes Advisor

    A new study ranked Oklahoma the fifth riskiest states to drive in, citing its number of fatal car accidents and the prevalence of texting and driving.

    Here's a breakdown of the study from Forbes Advisor .

    Oklahoma has the 2nd highest number of fatal car accidents

    Forbes Advisor reported that Oklahoma has the second highest number of fatal car accidents at 52.29 per 100,000 license drivers.

    The Sooner State also has the eighth highest number of drunk drivers involved in fatal car accidents at 13.54 per 100,000 licensed drivers.

    Additionally, the study found that Oklahoma has the sixth highest percentage, at 61.5%, of drivers who have witnessed a friend or family member text or make phone calls while driving.

    Oklahoma has the 4th highest average car insurance premium

    Oklahoma has the fourth highest average car insurance premium at $2,741 annually, according to Forbes Advisor.

    The state also has the eighth highest number of car thefts at 382.94 at 100,000 vehicles.

    Forbes Advisor found that Oklahoma Farmers Union offers the cheapest car insurance in Oklahoma across a variety of driving records. It's also the cheapest for good drivers in Oklahoma City, according to the study.

    For drivers with a speeding ticket in Oklahoma City, Forbes Advisor found that State Farm offers the cheapest car insurance. The insurance company is also the cheapest for drivers in Oklahoma City who caused an accident with injury, or have a DUI.

    For drivers in Oklahoma City with poor credit, Forbes Advisor found that Home State offers the cheapest car insurance.
