NORMAN — After announcing last week to pledge $50 per reception this season to Rob's Ranch with a few businesses committing to do the same, Deion Burks offered an update on Tuesday.

Burks announced via X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter, that he's raised $8,400 toward the charitable endeavor thus far and that Affordable Door Company has announced it will donate $1,000 for every touchdown this season.

A Rob's Ranch spokesperson told The Oklahoman Wednesday the latest donation numbers are up to $1,100 per reception and $1,000 per touchdown. The facility has been flooded with calls all week from new sponsors and anticipates those figures growing in the coming days.

Burks became the first OU player to register three touchdown catches in a season opener and the fifth to haul three touchdown receptions in a half during the Sooners' 51-3 win over Temple. He was charged with driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, transporting an open container of alcohol and speeding on June 11 .

"The cause means a lot to me, honestly,” Burks said. “I’m not hiding from it. Of course everybody knows about the situation with the DUI and stuff like that as well, But, it’s a greater cause. I’m just trying to give back and not have everything be about me, but be about other people and help other people.

“Because it opened my eyes to a situation.”

Other businesses and individuals to join forces with Burks include Hal Smith Restaurant Group, Seth Wadley Auto Family, Mabrey Bank, Win Foundation, Brockhaus Jewelry, Jim Traber, Oak Tree Country Club, Othello's Restaurant Group, Nobility Door, Wright Water, Omni Construction and more.

    What is Rob's Ranch?

Since 2010, Rob's Ranch has served more than 3,000 clients. The facility was founded by Dick Liddell, who lost his son Robbie in 2003.
