NEWCASTLE — Here are three takeaways from Class 4A second-ranked Tuttle’s 21-0 win at Class 5A No. 9 Newcastle on Friday.

Player of the game: Brady McAdoo. The Tuttle senior scored all three of the Tigers’ touchdowns. Junior quarterback Cruz Campbell had touchdown throws of 22 and 27 yards to McAdoo in the first half, and McAdoo ran for a 5-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Top moment: Campbell’s 27-yard touchdown throw to McAdoo came with 7:08 left in the second quarter and gave the Tigers (2-0) a big boost. McAdoo sped past two defenders before Campbell dropped it in the front left corner of the end zone, and Tuttle took a 14-0 lead.

Tuttle’s defense dominates. Newcastle’s offense struggled all game. The Tigers are known for having great defenses under head coach Brad Ballard, and this year appears to be no different. Newcastle (1-1) simply never got going offensively, and the Tigers got their first shutout of the season.
