NORMAN — One suspect has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that drew a large police presence near the Twisted Oak Apartments.

Officers with the Norman Police Department responded Friday to reports of a shooting at a residence in the 1800 block of Twisted Oak Drive.

Police found a 52-year-old man with several gunshot wounds and took him to a local hospital, where he later died. The department has not released the name of the victim.

According to a news release from police, witnesses gave officers a description of the alleged shooter and said the suspect ran from the area after the shooting. Police said a person of interest was detained about two hours later in the 1300 block of E Lindsey Street. The department later announced it had officially arrested the individual in connection with the shooting.

Investigators said the victim and the suspect were involved in "a verbal disturbance" before the shooting happened.

The 31-year-old suspect has been booked into the Cleveland County jail on complaints of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm after felony conviction. The Oklahoman is not naming the individual because charges have yet to be filed in the case.
