    Scouting Tulane

    • Record: 1-1
    • Best player: Redshirt sophomore running back Makhi Hughes has 35 carries for 187 yards and two touchdowns so far this season. Last season, he became the first freshman running back in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards when he had 1,378 yards and seven touchdowns. Hughes had 21 carries for 128 yards and a score and five catches for 37 yards in Saturday’s loss to Kansas State.
    • The case for Tulane: The Green Wave are by far the most potent offense the Sooners have faced so far this season, not only with Hughes but also former OU wide receiver Mario Williams. Redshirt freshman quarterback Darian Mensah has been strong as well, completing better than 70% of his passes so far. If the Sooners’ offense continues to struggle, Tulane has firepower enough to make OU pay.
    • The case for OU: The Sooners’ defense has been really good through two games, and the run defense has been the biggest piece of that. OU has allowed just 127 yards rushing combined through two games, which should negate the Green Wave’s biggest strength.
