Actor D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai made a statement at Sunday night’s Emmy Awards without having to say anything.

The "Reservation Dogs" actor's formal attire featured a red handprint over his mouth, which is a symbol of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) movement.

The handprint placed over the mouth symbolizes “all the missing sisters whose voices are not heard,” the Native Hope website reads. “It stands for the silence of the media and law enforcement in the midst of this crisis. It stands for the oppression and subjugation of Native women who are now rising up to say #NoMoreStolenSisters."

Woon-A-Tai identifies as Oji-Cree First Nations and Guyanese. For his first Emmy nomination, he was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy for playing Bear Smallhill in the Oklahoma-filmed "Reservation Dogs."

Reservation Dogs was nominated for five categories, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
