    OKC ranked one of the cheapest vacation spots in US. Here's how to spend your staycation

    Though many may want to venture out for a vacation or short getaway, a new study shows that few places are as affordable with the amenities and safety that Oklahoma City provides.

    Magical Nepal’s newest study analyzed the average daily expenses for the 100 most popular vacation spots in the U.S. Key factors were meals, accommodations, transportation and attractions while in the city.

    The study named Oklahoma City the 7 th least expensive city to vacation to. Here’s what they found and how your vacation (or staycation).

    How much does it cost to visit OKC?

    Magical Nepal says the average 7-day trip for a family of 4 totals approximately $4,008.12.

    This includes the average cost of housing and meals, which are $123.11 per night and $79.60 per day, respectively. For those traveling into OKC, the average cost would be $224.60.

    In the rankings, Aspen, Colorado was listed as the most expensive city - averaging over $14,000 for a family vacation - and the cheapest city was Charleston, West Virgina - averaging about $3,273.89 for a family vacation.

    Unique amenities and attractions in OKC:

    Where to eat?

    Aside from lodging, every vacation needs good food, and the city does just that. The local food scene offers a wide array of cuisines and cultures, so vacationers will have several choices on what and where to eat.

    Several businesses have been spotlighted by national brands for having some of the best food in the country, like Nonesuch , Ma Der Lao Kitchen , Noche Woodfired Grill and Agave, Florence’s Restaurant.

    Sports and athletics:

    The city is known for the Oklahoma City Thunder, which has brought liveliness to game days downtown, but OKC offers more than just basketball.

    Oklahoma Warrior, NAHL, has already hit the ice and will carry the city into next Spring, leaving room for OKC Spark, softball, to pick up where the season left off.

    Tickets for games can range, but with sports happening in the fall, winter, spring, and fall, there are plenty of chances to go to the ball game.

    Arts Entertainment venues

    If sports are not your thing, the next best way to enjoy the city is through the arts and performers. Several venues , especially the bars and restaurants, host local talent. Large venues like the Civic Center Music Hall and the Criterion have concerts and performances weekly.

    And, of course, the Paycom Center will see concerts from national and international acts when not hosting the OKC Thunder.

    Museums

    With a variety of history throughout the Sooner state, many museums are finding their home in Oklahoma City. Several museums include the city’s Museum of Art as you walk through the rotating exhibits or ride through the Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

    But if you’re looking for an interactive museum for all ages, the Science Museum may have the attractions for you.
