The summer blockbuster "Twisters" was filmed in Oklahoma and was released alongside a soundtrack chock full of original songs written for the movie.

One of those songs is the Billboard Country Airplay chart-topper "Ain't No Love in Oklahoma" by country artist Luke Combs, which features dramatic lyrics fitting for the tornadic movie it was written for.

Combs was contacted to write a song for the film, he said in an interview on the Bobby Bones Show .

He wrote the song, along with Jessi Alexander and Jonathan Singleton, without seeing any scenes from the movie. Instead, filmmakers gave him an idea of the sound and themes they were looking for.

"It was interesting, writing it without having seen anything," Combs said in the interview. "Obviously, if it was a movie I was unaware of, like, if Twister didn't exist, that would have been a lot more difficult to not have some idea of what was going to happen. But it was fun, it was exciting to do."

Combs said in an interview with Audacy that he believes the atmosphere of the song and movie match up pretty well.

"This song is about everything that I think this movie is about," Combs said. "High-energy, high-octane, I think the song really musically matches that vibe. It’s really sort of abstract, lyrically speaking, I think that was done intentionally. We were really just trying to sonically match the vibe that they were looking for with this film."

If you're not familiar with the movie "Twisters," or even the 1996 "Twister" that kicked off the franchise, the lyrics to Combs' hit song might be confusing.

What's the "devil" Combs is chasing, and what's that about the "whistle of a lone black train"?

According to Holler, "at the heart of ‘Ain't No Love in Oklahoma’ is the temptation to chase the tornado, which seemingly serves as a metaphor for the Devil.

"Luke explains how he keeps driving into the heart of the twister, with the fact that he's heading down a 'dead-end highway' creating a sense of foreboding that the journey will not end well. He uses the visceral imagery of the storm itself coursing through his blood, such is the thrill and excitement he feels at storm-chasing."

In the chorus, Combs says there "Ain't no love in Oklahoma, Just the whistle of a lone black train," which could refer to the fact that many who have experienced a tornado say it sounds like a freight train going by overhead. Holler writes that it could also be a nod to Josh Turner's 2003 "Long Black Train," in which the funeral train is a metaphor for sin.

The song also holds several juxtapositions: "Scared of nothing and I'm scared to death, I can't breathe and I catch my breath," and "I keep running, but I'm standing still, Pray for peacе, but I need the thrill."

Combs told Audacy he loved the tension those juxtaposing lines create, that it's some of his "favorite stuff in this tune."
