On Saturday following Oklahoma football's loss to No. 1 Texas in the Red River Rivalry, former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield caught some strays as Longhorns ' defensive players Anthony Hill Jr. and Barryn Sorrell planted a Texas flag at midfield through Mayfield's Oklahoma jersey.

The former Sooners quarterback responded to Hill Jr. and Sorrell's postgame actions following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win at the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

"Just a kid from Austin, Texas that went to Oklahoma and won his last two Red River games and being rent free in their heads for almost a decade," said Mayfield Sunday when asked about the incident.

Here's a video of Hill Jr. and Sorrell planting Texas' flag through Mayfield's Oklahoma jersey at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday:

When asked why he did what he did on Saturday, Hill Jr. said he felt like it was the "right thing to do" for both him and his teammates.

"I just felt like it was the right thing for me to do," Hill Jr. said postgame. "I'd seen all the stuff they (Oklahoma) posted last year, so I felt like it was right for me to get a little touch of something on them."

Saturday's loss for Oklahoma marked just the third loss in the last seven seasons that the Sooners have lost the Red River Rivalry.

In his three seasons at Oklahoma, Mayfield went 2-1 against the Longhorns in the River River Rivalry. In those three games, Mayfield threw for a combined 803 passing yards and scored a combined seven touchdowns. Oklahoma has won 10 of the last 15 meetings against Texas in the Red River Rivalry since 2010.

Mayfield finished with 12,292 total passing yards with 119 passing touchdowns in his three seasons in Norman under then-Sooners coach Lincoln Riley. The 6-foot-1 quarterback became the first senior since Troy Smith to win the Heisman Trophy in 2017 when he threw for 4,627 total passing yards and 43 touchdowns.

The Sooners will look to bounce back from Saturday's loss on Saturday at home against South Carolina at 11 a.m. CT.
