An Oxford woman was arrested recently for allegedly being involved in a domestic violence incident.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, on May 27, deputies responded to the Tula community for a report of a domestic incident.

Deputies interviewed the individuals involved in the assault and determined that the primary aggressor, Dakota Bowen, 27, Oxford, had assaulted a woman.

Brown was arrested for domestic violence simple assault; however,  it was determined that Bowen had a butcher knife during the assault. Since Bowen is a previously convicted felon for aggravated assault from June of 2016, she was subsequently charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Bowen was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center without incident. On May 28, Bowen appeared before a Justice Court Judge and was given a $15,000 bond.

This bond was revoked because Bowen was on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. A hold was placed on Bowen by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Bowen is currently being held in the Lafayette County Detention Center.
