An Abbeville woman was arrested recently after a child in her care tested positive for meth.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, on May 27, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit received a report from Child Protective Services of a child who tested positive for methamphetamine.

As a result of the investigation, Teresa Mendez Figueroa, 24, of Abbeville was arrested and charged with Child Endangerment on May 30.

Figueroa appeared before a Justice Court Judge on May 31 and was given a $40,000 bond.

The bond was revoked because Figueroa is currently out of jail on a felony bond.

Figueroa is being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center awaiting trial.
