Moments after Sam Kendricks and Shelby Mcewen won silver medals in the Paris Olympics, Oxonians took to X (formerly called Twitter) asking about a parade to celebrate. Sadly, Visit Oxford confirmed today in a social media post that the city of Oxford and Lafayette County will not be hosting a parade.

Visit Oxford posted “ While we would love to host a parade in honor of Sam and Shelby , their schedules don’t allow for it as they enter post-season. Join us in congratulating them on their Olympic medals.”

Kendricks held a celebration event at The Refuge on Thursday evening. https://www.oxfordeagle.com/2024/08/16/a-silver-medal-celebration/

Parade aside, Oxford did put up a banner on the south side of the courthouse congratulating both Sam and Shelby on their Olympic success.
