Man arrested after failing to register as sex offender

A local man was arrested recently after allegedly failing to register as a sex offender.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, on May 14, the department received an anonymous tip that Willie Shaw, 25, a registered sex offender, was not living at his registered address.

A compliance check was then conducted at the registered address. Shaw was subsequently charged for failure to register as a sex offender.

On May 23, Shaw was arrested in Batesville by the Batesville Police Department and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

Shaw was later issued a $25,000 bond by a Lafayette County Justice Court Judge.
